Brooklyn Dog Left in the Cold Thanks to Mugger

When walking through any major city you have to be aware of your surroundings and keep an eye on your possesions. But your dog’s possesions? As improbable as it sounds, a cute Westie named Lexie from the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn had her coat stolen from her behind the owner’s back the other night. Yes, that’s right, someone mugged a dog of their coat in the Winter. What kind of person does that?

‘Who Dat’ Dog Waits to Cheer on Saints
With all the hoopla and pageantry surrounding the upcoming Super Bowl, a little beagle named Jerry from outside New Orleans is getting a whole lot of special attention. You see, Jerry has a special talent. As WDSU reports, Jerry can lead the Saints rallying cry of “Who Dat” during their games. Jerry’s owners recorded this on Sunday and put it up on YouTube not expecting much attention outside of a few friends. To their surprise, he was a huge hit and has become a bit of a mini internet superstar.

Puppy Bowl VI Live This Sunday
Another year has passed and everyone is gearing up for the big game this Sunday. Both sides have worked hard and are ready to hit the gridiron. I’m not talking about the Super Bowl, but the other game in town. The 6th Annual Puppy Bowl broadcast live on Animal Planet this Sunday from 3-5pm e/p.
For those who have yet to see a Puppy Bowl take place, it’s an entertaining couple hours of puppies running around and playing together in a room dressed up like a football stadium (or as they call it, Animal Planet Stadium). They crash into each other, chew on toys, and just act like rambuctuous pups for a couple hours. They have instant replays and a water bowl camera that gets you right into the action. Apparently we’re going to be seeing the addition of a blimp hovering over the field. Feline lovers will also enjoy the kitty halftime show put on by a bunch of cats that seem to have gotten a nice batch of catnip before the performance.

Debarking Dogs: Inhumane or Practical?
While cruising through the daily topics that were getting attention on Twitter, I came across an interesting front page article from the New York Times on the practice of debarking dogs. This was a rather foreign topic to me and it was fascinating to read the various view points on the issue.
At first glance, debarking sounds cruel. You’re putting an animal through an invasive surgical procedure to remove their vocal chords and take away one of their most primal functions. While a human can understand why they can’t speak and how to work around it, a dog just doesn’t have that mental capacity. They just know that one day they could bark and the next they couldn’t. That we are taking an important piece from a dog for our personal convenience.

David Beckham Gifts New Puppy to Gordan Ramsey
International soccer superstar David Beckham must have been a good boy in 2009 as he received a $3200 English bulldog for Christmas from his almost equally famous wife Victoria Beckham. But being a man who travels the globe on a regular basis, David realized he just didn’t have the time to be a good owner for his new pal. So what does any self-respecting celebrity do? He gives it away to his good pal Gordon Ramsay.
Now we’ve seen Hell’s Kitchen a few times, so we’re not quite sure what Coco (an interesting name for a bulldog I must say) has in store for him. Although it seems that the biggest grouches in the real world turn out to be sensitive slobs when it comes to their pets at home. One thing is for certain though, this dog is probably going to eat much better than the rest of us do. Continue Reading David Beckham Gifts New Puppy to Gordan Ramsey

RIP UGA VII
If you’re not a fan of college football, this story probably flew under your radar. Last week, the University of Georgia’s beloved bulldog mascot passed away at the young age of 4. UGA VII, was on the job for just two short seasons but touched the hearts of Georgia students, faculty, and fans. He led the Bulldogs to a 16-7 record while patrolling the sidelines.
UGA VII was much more than a symbol representing the school, he was also a beloved family pet and friend. His impact could be seen by the countless flowers and cards that were brought to the game in Athens on Saturday night. The University memorialized UGA prior to the game in a ceremony that touched the hearts of everyone in the stadium. They left his jersey and collar on his crate inside the stadium and will not replace him on the sidelines until next season. He was buried next to his father UGA VI in Sanford Stadium in a private ceremony prior to the game.

Watch Out! We Are Officially Blogging
We decided early on in the development of our dog store that we’d be starting a blog with it. Yeah it’s become cliche for stores to have their own blogs and for the most part, they are rather boring and a waste of time.
Hopefully we can change that a bit though. The focus of our blog won’t be on our store, but dogs in general. As massive dog lovers, we’re always joshing for a good story about dogs. Whether they’re funny, thought-provoking, inspiring, or sad. We just love dogs and love reading about them.
